| Mitre 10 Takahe Rescue Recognised As A Winner |
Sometimes, when you are working really hard and striving to be the best it is nice to gain professional recognition for your efforts. The team at Mitre 10 were therefore absolutely thrilled to have Mitre 10 Takahe Rescue officially recognised by some of New Zealand’s expert sponsorship and public relations judges as one of the best!
Mitre 10 Takahe Rescue was originally entered in the cause related category of the 2008 NZ Herald sponsorship awards and was made a finalist along with 11 other entries. Our entry was however lifted out of that group to win an overall prize as the Public Relations Institute of New Zealand Best Under $50,000 sponsorship.
The outstanding aspects of our entry that we feel made such a big impression with the judges included our leadership as a business engaging with the Department of Conservation to prevent the extinction of an iconic species coupled with the extra effort we devote to raising awareness about the takahe among school children.
The NZ Sponsorship Awards night was held at the Event Centre, Auckland Museum and over 300 sponsorship hopefuls attended. We invited Phil Tisch, Head of DOC’s Takahe Recovery programme and Reg Kemper, Area Manager Te Anau to join us on the night. Both men looked resplendent in the DOC uniforms which provided a great talking point.
